MLK Weekend Fun!

So I am back for winter quarter and things have started out a bit rocky.  It was really hard leaving home this time even though I got to return to such amazing friends here at school.  My classes are fun for the most part and I have been enjoying myself.  I am taking history, film and faith, statistics and am also doing some research with a professor which will be really fun!  I am also taking a class on biblical counseling at my church.  I go to a church called Mars Hill and they are very good about offering classes that will benefit our walk with God and help us to love people.  I have been trying to get in a regular routine of 7am workouts and reading my bible for an hour after that.  My classes don't start until about 11am which gives me time for those things.  God has graciously been revealing some things to me about where my heart truly is.  He is showing me how much I want to control the things that happen in my life.  The times when I feel down are the times that my plan is not working out.  I am learning that my plan will never work out if it is not what God intends to happen.  He is helping me through those things right now along with many other issues I have.  It is all a blessing though because I really do want my life to be what He wants it to be and that will only happen if I step out of the drivers seat and allow Him to step in.  I have been pretty busy this quarter with obligations tuesday, wednesday, and thursday nights.  It has been really fun so far though and I look forward to what is to come.  I have set up a plan on working out and I have for the most part been staying with it.  I always ned to remind myself though that as I am working out it is to keep me healthy and not to make me look a certain way.  I am slowly learning to think in those terms but there is progress.
This past weekend was a three day weekend for MLK day.  I planned to do homework the whole weekend and looking back, I am glad that did not happen.  Saturday was filled with lots of spontaneous activities.  When I woke up in the morning, I went running with a few friends.  Lindsay, Christine and I all went to Greenlake.  Greenlake is an awesome and beautiful lake which has a trail around it to go running.  We ran the whole way around which is three miles.  We got to talk and hang out and it was just all around a fun time.  After that we went to lunch in our school cafeteria, Gwinn Commons, and then went shopping at a mall in Northgate.  The mall is about 15 minutes away from school and I am gracious that many of us have cars.  I bought a couple necklaces and a ring when I was shopping.  There was five of us shopping and many of us had different things we wanted to buy.  Luckily we all enjoy the same stores so that made things easier staying together.  We ended our shopping trip with a stop at target.  The target at Northgate is the largest one I have been in.  It is two stories and they have full groceries, clothes and everything else.  Later that evening we watched Despicable Me which was really cute.  After the movie we decided to look up things to do(it now being about 11pm) and decided to go hot tubbing at Best Western.  There was six of us and we just got to hang out and talk and have clean fun!  That's my favorite kind of fun  :)  I went to bed at 230 that night and woke up early for church the next day.  I went to the 9am service so we could have enough time to come back and watch a little bit of the Seahawks game.  They ended p losing but the Jets ended up winning later that day which was fun.  I have grown up in a home where my dad was a sports fan.  It has rubbed off on me and I do enjoy watch sports with friends.  And that's what we did.  We watched The Dark Knight that night which is one of my favorite movies.  Monday was my homework day!  After working out with Lindsay, Kayla and my roommate Katie, I had subway and then went off to the Teacup to be productive.  And that I was!  I finished my homework which I had planned to work on all weekend in the time I was there which was about three hours.  It's amazing what you can do without all the distractions!  Monday night is Bachelor night so of coarse we watched that as a big group and hung out after.  All in all, the three day weekend was much needed and I am so happy that I didn't spend it all on homework like I had planned.

Isaiah 58:11

The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
