Last Weekend of Break

Well Spring Break is sadly over and classes begin 8am tomorrow.  I am not excited about spring break being over but I am excited about classes starting!  My last weekend at home was a good end to break at least and was filled with family.

On Saturday I got to spend with my mom and sister and go birthday shopping!  It was so fun.  I got a couple of shirts, jeans and a purse.  I got the shirts and jeans from Forever 21 and the purse from the lovely Nordstrom.  I also got some underwear from Victoria's Secret.  I am loving that store more and more.  After shopping, we got to go out to Scott's Seafood for my grandparent's 55th wedding anniversary.  It was such good food.  That was the first nice restaurant I have experienced and I now understand why people spend money on such nice food.  It is so good!

My Mom and I
On sunday morning we went and had brunch at my grandparents house.  We had bagels and lox, egg santa fe and fruit.  After brunch we had coffee and layered raspberry cake.  It was a great celebration!  I had to say good bye to my lovely aunt and uncle as they went back home to the bay area.  We hung out at my grandparents house a little more and then went home.  My mom and I watched Pride and Prejudice which was a great movie!

Monday was my last day at home.  I spent the day with my mom because she was so sweet and took the day off of work.  The sun came out for the first time of break and we sat out on the patio for a while to soak up the sun.  We ran a few errands and then she made chinese chicken salad which garlic and olive bread.  It was relaxing.  I packed and talked to a friend on the phone to finish the day off!

Today was definitely hard coming back to school.  I wanted to stay in California longer and spend time with my family.  I was not very interested in hanging out with people when I got here.  I know things are going to get a lot better as my classes begin and start on my routine again.  I got Nike + over break as well and I am looking forward to begin using it so I can know how far I run and how many calories I burn.  I usually have to estimate but no longer!

I hope your weekend was fun as well!!

55 Years of Wedded Bliss

A couple of days ago was my grandparents 55th wedding anniversary!  How exciting.  Not only are they married but their marriage is one which we very rarely see anymore.  My grandmother is the sweetest most kind person I know.  I look up to her and the way she is so much.  The respect she shows toward my grandpa is like no other and I am so grateful to have an example like my grandmother to look at when I become a wife.  My grandfather is there for everyone.  Even people he doesn't even know.  He has helped my sister, myself and everyone in my family and beyond with anything we need.  Every time I leave my grandparents house, he always says, "call us and let us know if you need anything."  Every single time!!!  I love that about him.  I hope I am that way toward people as well as my family.  I hope my home is a place that people know that they can come and be loved.  That is the way my grandparents home is and I love it. These two beautiful people have been such an amazing example in my life and I love them so much.  I am blessed to only live a few houses down from them so I get to see them often.  At least once a week and sometimes more.  I pray often that my husband will one day get to meet them.  I want my husband to meet the people who have been such an inspiration and blessing in my life.  I have learned many lessons from them!
My grandparents have inspired me so much to wait for the right person.  Don't settle for someone who can just live with but love someone you can't live without.  Love each other till the very end and get through the rough spots.  They are a testimony to true, pure love.  The kind which is spoken about in the bible.  The verb.  Not the butterflies in the stomach infatuation which our culture falsely thinks is love.  The love which is selfless and respectful. The love which puts the other person before yourself.  That is the sort of love I want.  The kind where I give it to the other person even when they don't give it back.  Thank You grandma and grandpa for being such an amazing example to many!

Craving Encounters

Being in college makes you crave certain encounters.  One is animals.  Not being around dogs makes you excited for the day you graduate, have a house and are able to take care of a puppy.  This is me right now.  I have grown up around animals my whole life.  All sorts of animals including horses, chickens, rabbits, and much more.  My parents have narrowed it down to 2 dogs and a cat.  It is great coming home and playing with them but I am surely excited to have a dog of my own!  This is the type of puppy that I want to get one day.  A Tri-Color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  So cute and just the right size!!

Jesus is my Savior!

I'm alive and made it through finals!  This means that I have finished two quarters and have one quarter left before the end of sophomore year.  I can't believe how fast college is going.  I almost feel like it is going so fast that I am having a tough time embracing it!
I wanted to blog about this past quarter because I didn't blog much during the past 11 weeks.  This quarter was extremely difficult on so many levels.  Wish summer approaching, I put a lot of pressure on myself to look and be a certain way.  This really affected me this past quarter.  I began working out a lot as well as eating less.  This can be a good thing but I know my intentions and they were not right.  I got to the point where I pushed God away because He was not helping me to lose weight, and did it on my own.  Due to this, I became very sad.  I hung out with my friends still and went to church and such but I was not happy inside.  This was due to 2 things.  One was because I was not allowing God to work in my heart and make me a godly woman which I know I desire very much.  Two, I was unhappy with the way I looked and got upset with myself for looking this way.  The further I stepped away from God, the better I felt I had to look(to "make up" for my lacking godliness), which made me become more sad.  At the end of the quarter, I knew I was becoming more sad even though I was losing weight.  I did begin to get counseling which I am going to continue next quarter.  I become very sad as well at the idea that I don't have boys notice me.
I really need God.  Pushing God away brings everything I don't want.  I have no joy, no love and no peace.  This seems so basic to me but I just can't seem to get it right.  I know that I want to grow to become the woman who God has called me to be and this starts with Him.  Because this was such a big thing on my mind, I am thinking about not dating this next quarter.  That way, even if I want to go on a date, I have decided I am not going to do that.  I am going to spend this next quarter restoring my relationship with God.  I am going to exercise and train for the races I have planned but I am not going to focus on losing weight.  I am going to be focusing on my relationship with God.
He is my savior and He is my Father.  I need God more than anything and probably for the thousandth time in my life, He is teaching me that it is IMPOSSIBLE to live without Him!
